Good presentatio It's worth noting that the actual removal of the protruding disc is called "microdiscectomy" and it is this that causes the relief of pain. The laminectomy / otomy allows for the microdiscectomy.

That was quite helpful - good summary and didn't know about laminectomy. Do they protect the spinal cord somehow after the op or just leave it covered by overlying tissues?

Useful, but talk of "bedrest" is outdated. Most people do better to stay as active as they can and indeed exercise is generally beneficial!

Ever so helpful when it comes to Work, Health and Safety. Good resource for Mandatory Training in the work environment-especially in healthcare area where there are heaps of manual handling issues.
